Laser Hair Removal

How it works:

Hair growth happens in three stages. Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. Rotating through cycles every 4 to 6 weeks. Anagen hair has an active blood supply as it is in a growing phase which is what will be targeted during a laser hair removal session.

The laser emits light that is absorbed into the melanin (pigmentation) in the hair bulb. This light energy turns into heat, burning the blood supply to the anagen hair follicle (This heat may cause slight discomfort in the form of a pin prick). This then damages the bulb which prevents hair from growing further.

Four to six weeks later, when the hair growth has cycled into the next phase, is when the next treatment will be conducted to get best results.

What to expect:

During a laser hair removal session, the therapist will apply an ultrasound gel to the treatment area. With both the therapist and client wearing eye protection, the therapist will then begin the treatment. Moving the laser across the treatment area, which will continuously emit light. Once finished, the therapist will wipe off any remaining gel and apply sunscreen if necessary. The skin can be red and sensitive afterward.
